On the road on the way into Sandpoint, there is a wooden post with a sign and small mirror. Painted on the sign is “Welcome to Sandpoint! Please stop to see yourself as we see you!” What do you see if you look in the mirror?

Fear. Stinking, ugly, shameful fear. Ugnaught sees clearly why he is known only as The Child back in his village nestled along the Lampblack river. He is not proud, he is not fierce, he is not even a man.

Cursed amongst his people by a fear of heights, Ugnaught failed to complete The Plummet and has been marked by most of his tribe as a coward unworthy of representing the proud Hawk Clan, but he is lucky, other quahs might not have let him live at all. Fathers love and protect their children and mothers are bound by the spirits to guide their sons and daughters through the rites of passage, but this time something went amiss, blood that has fallen for generations froze, and Ugnaught could. not. jump. Their love and protection is now gone.

Determined to one day climb the stairs and prove once and for all that he is truly a defender of the plateau, Ugnaught has come to Sandpoint to hide from his shame in a land where people know better than to ask too many questions. He seeks to exist for a while away from the teasing and ridicule, Ugnaught would one day like to have a friend again.

“No, I am not The Child” he says shaking his head and avoiding eye contact even with himself, “it is time to grow some feathers and prove to the quah that I am not afraid to leave the ground, it is no longer time for fear.”

Holding his head high Ugnaught strides into town, trying to make himself look just a little bit larger than he actually is.

If someone cast Discern Next of Kin on you and you failed your save, what would they learn?

Ug remembers the mixed look of disappointment and hope on his mother’s face when he made known his decision to venture out from the protection of his village to try to find strength within himself. He remembers glares of mistrust from his father and two brothers.

Has your character ever killed a person? By person I mean humans, tengu, dwarves, etc… creatures your character would consider people rather than monsters. If so, when and why? If not, what would have to happen before you’d be willing to kill someone?

The Kaijitsu heir was Ug’s first lethal human opponent. While not predisposed to wholesale slaughter, as one who is establishing his place as a protector of his Klar , Ug knows that conflict can not be ignored, and his loyalty to his new group of adventuring companions eases his conscience when doing what is necessary to preserve their lives.

Following the recent struggles against Nualia a number of Sandpoint homes are vacant. Mayor Deverin has offered a home to any PC willing to settle in Sandpoint. Do you take her up on her offer?

Ug would happily take up residence within a home with a sweeping view of the lowest point in town. More so than anywhere else in the past year he is beginning to feel like he has a “secure” place to call home. He would hope the place was large enough to allow Beauflankilus an area to also feel comfortable…

What is your character most afraid of?

Ug is afraid of tengu ghouls…

House does your character get the laundry done?

There isn’t much difference from a sanitation angle between a clean loincloth and a dirty loincloth. Tools of battle are another thing entirely… Saddle blankets, armor pieces and the like are maintained with a good scrub down with whatever liquid is left at the bottom of the soup pot.
